We can’t get enough of Thunder Bay Amethyst, and really love these unique pieces dubbed travelite. This specimen has a nice “red cap” point, with compressed crystals on the underside.
Travelite is the name given to this crystal form by the people that mine this is particular looking type of Thunder Bay Amethyst. They call it travelite because these crystals had fallen off the main wall of the vein (traveled, if you will) to the floor, where they then were compressed with other crystals, forming what you see here.
