These are bulk polished “Turritella” agate shell fossils. They are great for displays, collections, jewelry making, and more. You can choose the weight/amount of shells, but please note that the number of pieces you receive can vary based on the size of the specimens.
2 ounces: ~15-20 shells
4 oz: ~30-40 shells
8 oz: ~60-70 shells
16 oz: ~120-135 shells
These fossils come from Wyoming’s Green River Formation. The fossilized shells are surrounded by a black agate, but the shells themselves can also have agate banding. It does not consist of Turritella species snails, but is actually a freshwater snail, Elimia tenera. These specimens are the shell fossils out of the matrix.
Polished stones are shown dry to showcase the glossy shine. Please note, as these are natural stones, there may be imperfections in the polish as not all minerals polish the same way. There may be slightly dull areas, vugs or small cracks. We do our best to showcase each item accurately in photos, but please let us know if you would like more photos of an item before purchase.
